  • description: Imagine saving for three years to visit America. You’ve watched the movies. You’ve planned the trip. You’ve told everyone at the pub you’re finally going. Then, four days into your dream vacation, you’re sitting on a hotel bed eating a 7-11 burrito, checking your bank account, and wondering why visiting Hollywood involved so little Hollywood and so much sitting in a rental car. Today, we’re counting down ten American cities that left some foreign visitors disappointed—and claiming they’d never go back to that city. These are places people were excited to visit. In some cases, the vacation just couldn’t compete with the version they’d been carrying around in their heads since childhood. World According to Briggs covers U.S. cities, states, migration trends, retirement destinations, cost of living, crime, housing, and quality-of-life rankings.
