  • description: I'm back onboard my narrowboat, the Jolly Roger, after our epic Scottish adventure — and this time we're heading back along the beautiful Llangollen Canal towards Wales. I haven't cruised this stretch since February, and what a difference summer makes! The canal is green, busy and full of life... although with summer comes hire boat season, busy locks and, on this trip, a rather long wait at New Marton Locks! After hiring a boat ourselves on the Caledonian Canal, I've also come back with a slightly different perspective on hire boaters. We were complete newbies to that boat and everything felt like an adventure, so perhaps I need to remember that next time I'm waiting at a bridge hole... although using my paintwork as a fender is still strictly forbidden! 😂 Gabby joins me for the second cruising day after driving ahead to meet me at the destination. However I was delayed nearly two hours at the locks. We finally make it through, fill the water tank and continue on towards St Martins for the night. There's also plenty of real narrowboat life along the way, including some upcoming DIY and maintenance jobs, my recent shower-pump nightmare, and I'm introducing a couple of new little features to the vlogs.
