  • description: Our Scottish boating adventure continues as we leave Fort Augustus and make our way across the spectacular Caledonian Canal towards Neptune’s Staircase. But first, we’ve got the Fort Augustus staircase locks to tackle… and it turns out our rope-throwing skills could still do with a little work! 😂 Over the next few days, we cruise through the heart of the Scottish Highlands, spend our first night near the mysterious Well of the Seven Heads, cross the beautiful waters of Loch Oich and Loch Lochy, and cruise through the tree-lined Laggan Avenue. Gabby and I are taking it in turns to do everything — steering, ropes, locks and generally trying not to make complete idiots of ourselves — while the Scottish weather throws sunshine, rain and wind at us, sometimes within minutes of each other. Our ultimate goal is Neptune’s Staircase at the western end of the Caledonian Canal — the incredible flight of eight locks that raises and lowers boats around 19 metres (62 feet). And along the way there are legends, stunning scenery, a floating bar, plenty of laughs and a few boating mishaps.
