The way this slug functions is actually quite unique, using a tapered nose to create enough hydrostatic pressure to cause the pins to rip out of the body outward. A hollowpoint builds up internal pressure to cause expansion. TO MY knowledge, this is a completely new principle - I know of no slugs or bullets that use this external force.
